TreeLine Wild Fire Defence delivers engineering-informed, research-guided wildfire-defence solutions for homes in high-risk regions of British Columbia.
TreeLine Wild Fire Defence was created to provide homeowners with a clear, engineering-informed pathway to stronger wildfire resilience.
As wildfire seasons intensify across British Columbia, many property-level services remain fragmented or reactive. TreeLine exists to offer a structured, dependable and evidence-informed approach to protecting homes in high-risk environments.
The purpose is simple. Help homeowners understand their property better, strengthen their landscapes and implement practical systems that offer real protection as wildfire conditions continue to evolve.
TreeLine integrates FireSmart principles with mechanical reasoning, moisture management strategies and property specific design. Instead of viewing landscaping, irrigation and suppression as separate tasks, TreeLine plans them as coordinated components within one structured wildfire defence model.
TreeLine’s planning is also informed by current wildfire behaviour research, including studies on ember movement, structure ignition pathways and the performance of surface hydration systems in the Wildland Urban Interface.
This ensures that all recommendations reflect the latest evidence and practical field understanding.
TreeLine Wild Fire Defence delivers coordinated solutions that strengthen the property from the treeline in.
Each service supports long-term resilience and contributes to the overall system design.
TreeLine plans landscape adjustments that reduce available fuel, improve spacing and create safer separation around structures. This includes selective pruning, debris reduction, healthier plant management and strategic layout improvements that support the overall wildfire defence system.
TreeLine provides irrigation and moisture management options designed to support healthier vegetation and reduce ignition risk. Systems can include automated scheduling, zone-based watering and optional monitoring tools suited to the property’s needs.
Roofline and perimeter surface hydration systems, automated pumps and water storage designed to protect structures during wildfire activity. Each installation is engineered to suit the property’s architecture, layout, slope and available water supply.
TreeLine Wild Fire Defence is owned and operated by David Wood, a mechanical industrial process engineer with professional experience working as a mechanical design engineer across industrial, construction and technical service environments. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and has worked extensively with hydraulic systems, process equipment commissioning, maintenance and field-based service coordination.
His background also includes FireSmart BC Risk Reduction certification, which supports the technical foundation of TreeLine’s service model. In addition to formal training, Dave has completed extensive technical research into wildfire spread mechanics, ember intrusion pathways, vegetation-moisture management and the hydraulic performance of engineered suppression systems. This continuous research effort, grounded in engineering analysis and current wildfire science, ensures that TreeLine’s designs are informed, precise and aligned with the most credible evidence currently available.
Building on this technical foundation, Dave has shaped a client-focused process that begins by clarifying the purpose of each recommendation so homeowners can see how each element contributes to reducing risk. From there, he guides clients through the practical considerations of system design and installation. The result is a clear, supportive decision-making experience built on accurate assessments, durable design and open communication.
TreeLine Wild Fire Defence is committed to delivering services that are dependable and aligned with industry standards. Every project is completed with attention to detail and a long-term perspective on property resilience.
